Security Warning

E-mail and Internet-related fraudulent schemes, such as “phishing” (pronounced “fishing”), are being perpetrated with increasing frequency, creativity, and intensity. Phishing involves the use of seemingly legitimate e-mail messages and Internet Web sites to deceive consumers into disclosing sensitive information, such as bank account information, Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, passwords, and personal identification numbers (PINs).

To avoid such schemes, Mesilla Valley Bank provides the following guidance:

  • Do not, under any circumstances, disclose your PIN or any sensitive information by telephone or to any one claiming to represent Mesilla Valley Bank. Our employees do not need and should not ask for your PIN.
  • Our Web page should never be accessed from a link provided by a third party. It should only be accessed by typing the Web site name or URL address into the Web browser or by using a “book mark” that directs the Web browser to the financial institution’s Web site.
  • Mesilla Valley Bank does not send e-mail messages requesting confidential information, such as account numbers, passwords, or PINs.

Please call Mesilla Valley Bank at 541-0058, if you have any concerns or to report any attempt to give out sensitive information.
